Surveillance
You provide us with all the current information you have, your thoughts about the claim, the reasons why you feel like you need surveillance and then off we go. Based on a predetermined budget, we go out, take a look around, see what we see and report back the same. We investigate through the lens of a camera, so if something’s happening, good or bad, and we are able, we are videoing. We don’t edit our findings, what we see is what you get.
On-Site Investigation
Often imitated but never duplicated…this has been our brain child for close to 25 years. This is the wisest use of an investigative dollar there is…why you ask? It captures everything about a worker’s compensation claim within days of the incident. Why is it not more widely used? It costs money before we really know if we have a claim; most companies are not set up for this proactive/preventive mindset. It’s not the same as an adjuster taking a statement over the phone, it’s not the same as the safety team doing their incident investigation. It’s not duplicitous, it transcends the insurance company and employers efforts. It’s the basic law of humanity, we sit across from someone, who is hurt, thinks they are hurt, or has a beef with the company and thinks the only way to get someone’s attention is to file a claim, we let them say their piece , we talk with coworkers…which lets them know you take injuries seriously, we talk with management…which lets them know everyone is accountable, and in the end, your claims professional gets the information they need to make the wisest decision on the compensability of the claim with the information available at the time.
Activity Check
Something’s not right, but you really do not feel the case warrants the expense of surveillance, this is a great alternative. Same rules apply to assigning surveillance, in order to be effective, we need to know what you know and why you are contemplating the investigation.
Once we are all on the same page, an investigator goes to the Claimant’s neighborhood and in a discreet indirect fashion attempts to determine their level of activity. This can also include an updated court records search, however maybe not. You’re the boss so you know what’s best, if asked, we’ll make the recommendation, however in the end you’re in charge.
